HSE guidance search

KASQ answers from official HSE guidance, with the source shown on every answer. It searches its library, writes the answer from the passages it finds, and names the document each point came from. It does not fill a gap in the guidance with an opinion, and it does not hide where an answer came from.

You meet this search in the site advisor, and it is what toolbox talks are written from. There is no separate search screen.

What is in the library

In the words of the site advisor's page, KASQ "answers from a library of HSE guidance — HSG, L-series, INDG, CIS sheets and HSE's own site pages". It covers Great Britain, and it includes GB legislation such as the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015.

The library is a copy held on KASQ's side, not a live link to HSE's website: a page HSE published or changed since the copy was made is not in it until the library is rebuilt. Each source shows the date it was checked.

How sources are shown

Under every answer is a section headed with the number of sources, for example "3 checked sources". Open it and each source is listed by its title, linked to the page it came from, with the publisher, the date it was published or updated where the document gives one, and the date it was checked.

Every point in an answer has to rest on one of the passages that were found. A point that does not is dropped before the answer reaches you, and only the sources the answer actually uses are listed.

A toolbox talk prints its sources on the sign-on sheet the crew signs, so whoever files it can see where every point came from.

When the guidance does not cover the question

KASQ says so rather than filling the gap with an opinion. When the search finds nothing relevant enough, the answer reads "I could not find enough relevant public evidence" and asks what exact task, equipment, role and site condition you mean. A toolbox talk on a topic the checked sources do not cover is refused, not written.

Where the guidance gives no number, KASQ says so rather than estimating one. See what KASQ will not do.

Who writes the answer

The passages are searched for on KASQ's own server. An external AI provider (OpenAI) helps plan the search from your question, writes the answer from the passages found, and checks the draft against them. What you ask and what KASQ answers are handled as described in security and privacy.
